Whether you believe in God or not, just consider in how many ways the world now rejects God as revealed in the Bible;
You shall have no other gods before me and, you shall not maker yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below – globally, via one of the 4,300 religions now in the world, almost anything is worshipped as a god; the earth, the sun, the moon, animals, ‘mother nature’, mythical creatures or people, aliens (and according to Liteverse on 19th July 2016 ladies with big bottoms), a motorcycle, psychedelic drugs, smallpox, computer chips, prostitutes, copying and pasting, Vladimir Putin, a sock puppet and the penis.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name – there is no respect for God’s holy name or Jesus, both are used widely as swear words or exclamations.
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work – trading laws and the worship of commerce have made all days the same, 24 hour, 7 days a week trading, no time for God.
Honour your father and mother – 75% of older people claim to often feeling lonely.[1]
You shall not murder – the World Health Organisation estimates there are over 50,000,000 abortions every year. 464,000 people were murdered globally in 2017 and by 2030, 610,000 up from 395,542 in 1992.[2]
You shall not commit adultery (any sexual intercourse outside of marriage) – divorce rates are high, fewer people are getting married, same sex partnerships are increasing, our children are being subjected to sex and gender education at increasingly young ages and in the UK the average age for loss of virginity is 17.3 years old.
You shall not steal and you shall not covet your neighbour’s house, your neighbour’s wife or anything that belongs to your neighbour – in 2015 Knoema reported there were circa 4,620,000 burglaries and 1,820,000 car thefts globally. The Global Cyber Alliance said that in 2016, 421 billion data records were stolen.
You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour – USC psychologist Jerald Jellison determined that people are lied to about 200 times a day. Charles Honts, a professor of Psychology at Boise State University and polygraph expert believes that humans lie in about 25% of their social interactions. Kim Serota, co-author of a 2015 study on lying, commented in an email with National Geographic that for those who claimed to have told no lies (in the past 24 hours), when asked if they had lied in the previous week, 92 percent admitted they had.
The theory of evolution – the theory that everything began from nothing and that life started spontaneously, evolving to our present condition over millions of years. Effectively this theory says there is no God, there never was, and we don’t need Him.
What does this mean?
For over 2,000 years writers of the Bible have been telling us that days when the world would reject God would arrive. We are living in them. The Bible also sets out God’s response.
Psalm 10: 4 – In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
Psalm 14: 1 – The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
Jude 14 – 15 – The Lord is coming… to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
2 Timothy 4: 3 – 4 – For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine… They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
2 Timothy 3: 1 – 9 – But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, … lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God… always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds…
Isaiah 5: 18 – 25 – Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness… Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent… for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. Therefore the Lord’s anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down. The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets.
Romans 1: 18 – 23 – The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
